Lagos, The City of Glam Welcomes Project Fame 5!

Sunday, 29 July 2012 12:46
Lagos, The City of Glam Welcomes Project Fame 5!

Lagos has got swags, big time! After the postponement of the auditions from the 23rd of June 2012 to 13th-14th July 2012, Ultima Studios, Lekki played host to the teeming hopefuls in Lagos and its environs who have made up their mind to give stardom a chance.

Before 8am, the entire venue of the auditions was already over-packed with contestants. It was a bright morning with much anticipation laced with excitement, the contestants all colourfully dressed in different fabrics and attires, and diverse hairstyles which characterises the glam and class in Lagos (Eko for show) -  some of them had different musical instruments to accompany the songs chosen for the day, others have earphones already plugged in their ears, probably listening to the song which would determine their fate for the day. Some others printed out lyrics of different songs from the internet while some others had theirs written in ink in their notepads, and some obviously had theirs written on the tablets of their hearts. Which of these worked best? Guess your response is time will tell...

Academy Day 37

Thursday, 09 June 2011 10:31
Academy Day 37............After the Fire The ruins of what used to be the venue of Ultima studios (producers of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Project Fame West Africa) was seen after the horrific fire disaster that occurred on Sunday night. Thankfully, no life was lost and all contestants are hale and hearty. The show must go on… Adora caught up with some of the contestants. Helen was on her way to take her ginger tea in the garden when she discovered the fire. Her lost voice was restored as she screamed “FIRE” and that was how the contestants were saved! Chidinma was engrossed with scoring her songs, her ear piece on and volume loud. Seeing Rhoda fly out of the bed, she followed immediately sensing danger. Kesse was in the music room with Christian when the alarm came. Kesse lost his guitar. Tolu was in the shower, not with the slightest clue what was going on…thank God he was alert. Eyo was scoring his song and ran at the sound of the alarm. He battled with Ochuko to put out the fire. Realizing it was a lost battle and overwhelmed, they aided the evacuation process and ran for their lives. The contestants are all excited that six weeks later they are still on with the feeling. Kesse even told everyone he is fine in his local dialect. For Chidinma, she is glad that she has been able to find her voice, Helen’s worst experience was the loss of her voice. Kesse’s best moment is his rendition of Asa’s song; Eyo’s best moment was the duet with Kesse. It’s challenging for them to learn dance steps, move on stage, thrill the audience and put in something extra, but they are up for it. Tolu and Kesse are ready to step up their game and stay on top. As for the dance routine, it’s not easy but they have learnt to cope and flow. “Ain’t no stopping us, no stopping, no one does it better….Project Fame What A feeling!” Those were lyrics of the 12 contestants as they sang and dance, all excited. The heat was INTENSE, the result IMMENSE …the feeling, fun and fever still continues. …PROJECT FAME…What a feeling!

Thumbs up to the contestants, faculty and judges. This season has really been exciting and full of innovations. Adetoun should not allow the success recorded so far in the competition to get into her head. She must avoid frivolities and stay focused to the reason why she is in the academy. My wife and I appreciate her disposition and wish her the very best in the competition. Adetoun, be assured of our votes and support.

MTN Project fame has really come to stay but if its actually to produce the best contestant with talent I personally feel the purpose is defeated if contestants are not being judge by their performance but by viewers/family/friend's vote. The best contestant may not have d highest vote and it doesn't make an objective judgment. But then I must commend the constructive criticism of the judges as well as the efforts of the Academy Crew, they're great!
