Academy Day 5: LIFE AND LOVE IN THE ACADEMY
Saturday, 11 August 2012 07:47
Five days in the academy and in pops Iyanya. It must have been comforting to have someone who had been through it before and who can tell them how it really is, and in deed he told the truth. Iyanya said focus on the goal, don't let any distractions get in the way, not even your feelings. He also told them what its like when its all over, no matter at what stage you leave.
Academy Day 50: Preparing for Christmas!
Wednesday, 14 December 2011 09:20
Yippee! It’s Christmas. Miss Ige doled out the different songs for the carol nite this weekend. Immediately the ambience changed as they all got into the mood of the season. They also have Naija dance hits, and a group song to prepare for.
Uncle Ben’s class was rehearsal all the way. In his usual funny meanness, he took them through the rigours of rehearsals and they all seem to be up to the challenge.
Miss Kaffy was available to ginger them especially with the Naija dance hits. After her exit from the boot camp, they all settled down to the business of rehearsing.
These last six contestants still need your votes to scale through to the end, keep voting for your favourite!
Elimination show 6: Twists and Turns As Another Two Contestants Face Elimination!
Sunday, 16 September 2012 06:25
It was another night of excitement laced tension as two more contestant will sadly bid farewell to the competition. To kick off the evening was a medley of Whitney Houston's songs as a tribute to this great woman of songs who passed on earlier in the year. It was a brilliant performance, so don’t miss it.
Then hearts skipped a bit when it was time to reveal the five contestants with the least votes. In no particular order, Adetoun, Didi, Christian, Ella, and Oyinkansade turned out to be the contestants whose votes were not enough to keep them off probation block. The five of them repeated the songs sang individually last week. This time it was not only to impress their fans but to impress the judges and maybe the faculty who will save one contestant each from the claws of elimination.
Time came for judges and faculty to save one contestant each, and it sure appeared to be a very onerous task deciding who to save, but eventually the judges saved Adetoun, and the faculty freed Oyinkansade. For the three other contestants not on probation, two votes went to Christian while Musulyn decided to vote Ella leaving Didi and of course Ella as the eliminated contestants.
While giving their final speech, Didi appreciated everyone especially the faculty and judges and of course those who have encouraged him with votes and prayers. Ella, though had a short stay appreciated the faculty, and the judges for believing in her. On that note, Didi performed for the last time on stage for the evening. While Didi started with 'Return of The Mark' by Mark Morrison. Next up was Ella to perform love on Top by Beyonce .......then suddenly the judges pulled a surprise and chose to exercise their power of recall.
Academy Day 49: Princess and Rachael's Party!
Wednesday, 14 December 2011 08:01
Princess and Rachael’s exit from the competition was unexpected but they took it in good fate, thanking God for having made it thus far. They then made their way to the venue of their eviction party.
It was another fun and excitement time as these budding stars met with their fans, and ‘Dizzy’ was on ground as the compere for the evening.
When asked to predict the winner of the competition – Monica was Rachael’s pick, while Ese was Princess’ choice. After this brief interview, they went ahead to have a blast with their fans. With so much to eat and drink... the party started in a grand style and continued to the wee hours.
We wish them all the best...
Academy Day 8: Edward Becomes the Captain for the week
Tuesday, 14 August 2012 14:29
Everyone raced into the class at the sight of Uncle Ben. No one dare come to his class late but Edward-captain for the week and Grace too were caught in the late-comer's net but he pardoned them.
He declared this week as R&B week, where the contestants will be taking up recent R&B songs and some that are quite vintage; and also group performances with the boys singing against the girls. He then went ahead to read out the songs they will be performing this weekend and also did not fail to remind them that some of them will sadly kiss the Academy goodbye this saturday.
Academy Day 46: You decide the winner!!!
Wednesday, 07 December 2011 13:33
The end is in sight! The RAV 4 and cash and recording contract are within grasp!! You decide who win now!!! With three more weeks to the end of season 4, Ese(4), Ethel(5), Princess(xx), Rachael(xx), Roy(13), and Yvonne(16) are fighting their way to remain in the competition.
In today’s class, Uncle Ben took them through the songs they will all be performing this weekend. Ethel was first to sing, then Princess as each of them took turns to rehearse their songs and finally together they rehearsing group song ‘Olori Oko’ by Infinity. Though not so smooth yet, they are all working hard to give nothing but the best this weekend, even as Uncle Ben in his usual funny but strict manner encouraged them to put their very best and not perform below standard when they get on stage.

Later in the day, they all made their way into town to solicit for votes. Ruth and Monica came along with them even as they stopped by Beat FM. The presenters lightly scolded but still encouraged them and applauded Monica and Ruth for a good performance. From there, they took off to NYSC Orientation Camp, Lagos where all the Corps Members in camp were eagerly waiting for their arrival. Getting on stage, the contestants sang individually to the listening pleasure of everyone, but Roy got everyone on their feet in excitement as he performed the ‘NYSC Anthem’. Youths obey the clarion call....
The contestants’ on probation’s clarion call for your votes is high. To vote for your favourite, text his/her unique number to 306 from an MTN line if in Liberia, Nigeria, or Sierra Leone. But peeps in Ghana can text to 1739.
Project Fame... whatta feeling!
Academy Day 9: Sonia?! Mummy J To The Rescue.
Thursday, 16 August 2012 13:04
The contestants woke up to start their with punishment. What could have happened? They were all still in bed when Kaffy got into class for the early morning fitness class. It was only Marvellous who got to class on time. They all hurried to class only to see Kaffy and the fitness team already in class. Guess the punishment was deserved.
Edward announced that Sonia would be the last to bathe after everyone else. All the other contestants agreed but luckily for her Mummy J came to the rescue. She dug to the root of the matter and warned Sonia and others not to waste so much time in the bathroom and toilet knowing well that there are others sharing this facility. And that was how Mumm J in her motherly demeanor eased the uneasy calm that had prevailed in the Academy.
