A pitch perfect vocal expert, music coordinator (both spiritual & secular), vocal arranger, voice-over artiste and “KING OF MEAN” of the Project Fame Academy. As a choir boy in the Catholic Church, an opportunity to audition for the STEVE RHODES VOICES opened up for him. The late Elder Steve Rhodes took him through the rigours of professional vocal training in the contemporary and jazz genres and he has since not looked back in this rich field of commercial and personal choice of career.
In order not to lose track of these genres, he joined the LAZ EKWUEME CHORALE to fortify his stand in the industry. Uncle Ben as he is popularly known as, is the leader of the acapella group CHORDWEBS and head of ADRENALINE, the first band to be engaged in a music reality show (MTN PROJECT FAME WEST AFRICA). This die hard talent hunter will stop at nothing to bring drama, tears and blood in order to make you the best you must be in the industry. For Uncle Ben, “IF YOU CAN’T FACE THE PAINS THAT COME BEFORE SUCCESS, YOU DON’T DESERVE THE ENDLESS GAINS IT BRINGS”.
Academy Day 2
Thursday, 09 June 2011 09:22
The contestants were officially introduced to the Faculty. Joke Silver popularly called Mummy J, took the lead. Introducing themselves one after the other, they explained the intricacies of each training session in fitness by Kayode Ogundepo, song interpretation by Joke Silva, voice by Ige, music by Ben Ogbeiwi and choreography by Kaffy.
Mummy J, the Principal of the Academy, reeled out the rules to the contestants sternly. They are: English as the only language permitted in the Academy, no admittance in any of the classes upon lateness, no violence and no whispering.
Tough Uncle Ben had the contestants trembling with great trepidation as he went through the post-mortem of their last performances (Gala show). He informed the contestants that songs by Asa and Tracy Chapman, both guitarists, will be performed this weekend.
Miss Kaffy the dance instructor came in for a brief session. She gave them exercises to help to achieve effective breath control while singing.
As lots of activities unfold in the Academy, contestants had a little chit chat and got to know each other better. Of course, the session was garnished with fun, laughter and excitement in the air.
