Joe and Kamar bid farewell to Project Fame Stage!

Joe and Kamar bid farewell to Project Fame Stage!

The first eviction show was tension-packed, and you could almost see the nerves on the faces of the six contestants, wondering what their fate would be?

Aziga opened the drama-ladened show with a vastly improved performance of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s get it on’. His emotions were more on point this time, his vocal delivery too did not go unnoticed and Kwame could not resist dropping some rhymes  himself like ‘Aziga my nigga, probation is the trigger’, when commenting on the performance.

Goodbye Isaac and Velma!

Goodbye Isaac and Velma!

Another stiff competition show where the six contestants on probation sang to escape elimination.

Ruth stole the show with her energetic and electrifying performance of Aretha Franklyn’s ‘Respect’ after Ethel and Isaac sang  Karyn White’s ‘Super Woman’ and Bill Wither’s ‘Just the two of us’ respectively. Roy upped the game with Barry White’s ‘My first, my last, my everything’, Ese did Mary J. Blige’s version Luther Vandross’ ‘A thousand Kisses’ and Velma, Abba’s ‘I have a dream’.

Ade Bantu, the international musician and producer was present as a guest judge. With his keen ears and eyes complemented our not-so-easy-to-please judges.

A Night of Naija Dance Hits!

Monday, 12 December 2011 13:14
A Night of Naija Dance Hits!

Watch out! You'll need your dancing shoes for tonight's extravaganza of great performances. This time around, the final six contestants brought their A-game without fear of probation. They all gave their electrifying best this evening of Naija dance hits. The audience were thrilled to a state of frenzy from every single performance.

Ethel started by setting the evening ablaze  with R2Bees’ ‘Kiss your hand’. She got everyone on their feet dancing from the beginning of the song to the end as she brought out her Ghanaian swag. The judges commended her interpretation and energy but did not fail to point out her lower register issues. Yvonne did justice to Wakumzy’s ‘Celebrate’. She enjoyed herself and obviously thrilled everyone too having evolved from the shy girl that she used to be to a bold performer, and also tagged 'sexy' by Buki from Classic FM the guest judge.

Ruth in her usual energetic fire brought performance to the next level as she performed ‘Implication’ by Tuface. She combined smooth energy, singing and dancing together as she ‘implicated’ everyone with her A-performance.

Monica took up the stage dazzling everyone with P-Square’s ‘Do Me’. In her usual daring personality she had everyone going with this performance and the judge couldn’t but commend her and also brought back the statement ‘small but mighty’ which has been used in previous seasons for the likes of Annette Cookie, Chidinma, and now Monica. The faculty also felt proud of her and were in praise of this stage diva.

Roy though didn’t have a smooth beginning with his performance of Duncan Mighty’s ‘Port Harcourt Boy’, he climaxed well with another popular chorus ‘O bu li wo me lu...’ but the judges did not spare him at all. They came hard on him pointing out all his mistakes  but the end praised him for pushing through to the end. Ese ended the show well with 9ce’ ‘No be mistake’ which also got everyone on their feet dancing and yearning for more even as she climaxed into nice Fuji music. The judges were full of her praise and the faculty confirmed and affirmed that she is a star!

At this point, the winner of the competition has been left in the hands of viewers at home. Which of these contestants do you consider as your favourite and a deserved winner, and then keep voting for him/ her. To vote for Ese(4), Ethel(5), Monica(10), Roy(13), Ruth(14) or Yvonne(16), text his/her unique number to 306 from an MTN line if in Liberia, Nigeria, or Sierra Leone. But peeps in Ghana can text to 1739.

Academy Day 29

Thursday, 09 June 2011 10:14
Academy Day 29.....Joecelia and her sixth sense The contestants strolled into the Academy after the Saturday’s Eliminations Show. They were all in their different rooms chatting about all that went down during the show. Do we have an Octopus Paul in the Academy? Her previous predictions are coming true and causing a lot of ripples. Eyo took it personal with her, while the others got simply worried about Joecelia’s so called ‘sixth sense’. Chidinma got into trouble with Uncle Ben in his class…how could she have placed her leg on the grand piano?Sacriledge!!! She was not left alone to bear the brunt, Kesse and Yetunde who were with her during the act bore the brunt by kneeling down. Uncle Ben was on top of his game. Eyo was reprimanded for taking Joecelia’s predictions personal and outcome of his reactions (who has she predicted to leave this weekend???) To resolve the rift, they were both given a funny task of doing a duet titled ‘I Love You Bebe’. This they did bringing back humour into the class. It is a week Double Doses contestants will raise their voices to the power of two. They were paired and given songs for this weekend. Who will be the best pair? Disco songs will be presented as a group performance. At relaxation time, some of the contestants took time to deliberate on the forthcoming performances. Christian was at it again mimicking their old performances. Yetunde joined the show as they all reeled off in laughter, it was indeed a stand up comedy session.

Kudos to MTN Project Fame. There's no Nigerian reality talent hunt show like you. The way contestants develop skill, character and confidence week by week is amazing. It has gone beyond being a place to publicize talents, its a school that grooms them. This is why it wont loose its value year in year out. I only hope sponsorship issues and all don't affect this show. I look forward to every year and this one hasnt dissapointed me either. Good job judges, better job faculty.....lol.
