First Performance!

First Performance!

If you didn’t watch the show on TV, you sure have missed so much as the contestants have stepped up their games from the word go.

The evening started with Joseph apologising for Adora’s absence as he single handedly hosted the show. Ese opened the show with a beautiful rendition of Beyonce’s ‘De Javu’, the judges could not but commend her confidence and smooth performance which the faculty agreed to. Next to perform was the Port Harcourt singer Chidinma doing justice to Alicia Key’s ‘If I got nothing ‘. Joba impressed the judges with rich vocals as he lifted everyone with Westlife’s ‘You raise me up’. Velma sang ‘Always be my baby’ by Mariah Carey with so much vocal dexterity but the Judges frowned at her not-so-good demeanour.

The judges came hard on Kamar whom they felt did not really pull through with his performance. They felt he looked the part, but did not act and sound the part, never sacrifice singing for pleasing the crowd. Faculty concurred with judges and agreed that they would work on him. Next was the birthday girl, Princess from Liberian, earning a standing ovation from her beautiful performance of Toni Braxton’s ‘You mean the world to me’. Zaliha surprised the audience with her beautiful rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I have nothing’. Though the judges did not but noticed her nervousness, the faculty promised to work on that.

The first class philosopher, Ruth in her natural elements stopped at nothing to wow everyone. She got the judges on their feet clapping. She was generously commended for her microphone control, stage presence, running emotions etc. After performing Mariah Carey’s ‘I can’t live, if living is without’. Closely followed was Roy, who maintained the bar that was set by Ruth performed ‘Fool Again’ by West Life'. Pretty Ethel, the only Ghanaian in the Academy did not drop the standard either. She came up elegantly to perform Keri Hilson’s ‘Pretty Girl’. Jennifer Hudson must have felt really proud of Monica if she was present to hear her sing ‘Spotlight’. Monica did justice to this song and got loads of accolade from both the judges and faculty.

A Night of Classic Soft Rock!

A Night of Classic Soft Rock!

The effect of yesterday’s eviction was still very fresh in the air as the contestants began to realise the essence of the competition. It was another night where they all gave it their best to escape the judge’s probation list.

Opening the floor was the sonorous Port Harcourt girl, Chidinma. She held everyone spellbound as she rendered ‘Wind beneath my wings’ by Betty Midler. The judges commended the tone of her voice and the personal feel she gave the song, but reminded her to be careful with pitching to avoid the risk of shouting. Next was beautiful Saro girl, Velma doing ‘From this moment’ by Shania Twain. The judges enjoyed her performance but pointed out that she could have done better than what she did, and the faculty promised to work on her.

Joe and Kamar bid farewell to Project Fame Stage!

The first eviction show was tension-packed, and you could almost see the nerves on the faces of the six contestants, wondering what their fate would be?

Aziga opened the drama-ladened show with a vastly improved performance of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s get it on’. His emotions were more on point this time, his vocal delivery too did not go unnoticed and Kwame could not resist dropping some rhymes  himself like ‘Aziga my nigga, probation is the trigger’, when commenting on the performance.

A Day of Pardon!

Saturday, 05 November 2011 20:11
A Day of Pardon!

It’s one of the saddest days of the show, tonight two more contestants will be going home. The week-long tension reaches a climax for  Aziga, Emmanuel, Ruth, Isaac, Velma and Chidinma who could be going home today.

They have worked hard all week and now its time to perform the songs that landed them on probation, but before they do, the boys performed an energy-charged show-opening rendition of Boyz 11 Men’s ‘End of the Road’. We hope it’s not the ‘end of the road’ for two more boyz 2 night.

The show took another twist with the absence of two judges-TY Mix and Nomoreloss but the presence of Matilda Duncan, an Abuja based top-notch broadcaster.

Bez & Praise Rock Project Fame Stage!

Monday, 07 November 2011 10:00
Bez & Praise Rock Project Fame Stage!

The contestants were all in high spirits, gorgeously decked and ready to give their best, after yesterday’s display of forgiveness by the judges, that saw noone sent home.

To spice up the show Bez was present as a guest artiste and judge, along with him was Matilda Duncan who gave sharp insights in the absence of TY Mix and Nomoreloss.

Chidinma opened with a beautiful rendition of ‘Listen’ by Beyonce and it was a great way to start. This ushered in gentle Zaliha who with a chic, naughty school girl look performed Adele’s ‘Rolling in the deep’, as a matter of fact it wasn’t an easy song to render, the judges remarked. Big boy Isaac was next to perform ‘Water runs dry’ by Boyz 11 Men which the judges felt he struggled with. Calm and collected Aziga must have felt so good with himself after successfully singing Lionel Richie’s ‘Stuck on you’. But the judges felt there’s still more this Port Harcourt dude could do. Liberian Princess sure dressed like a priceless princess as she elegantly performed Whitney Houston’s ‘Greatest Love’.
