Ibadan Audition
Monday, 08 August 2011 15:33
The auditions in Ibadan was fantastic and a huge success. A lot of beautiful performances and of course hilarious ones too.
Despite the heavy rain, the people came out en-mass to show their talents. While some got a 'YES', some others were encouraged to try again next season.
There were quite a number of impressive singers plus so many hilarious ones, like the guy singing with his face squashed and his neck bent sideways and the one who was carrying a weight that was too heavy for him and many others. We were absolutely cracked up by that contestant who was interviewed at the start of the audition show who when asked what he had in store for the judges said “... I go knack dem akpako, dem go hear gbagaun...”. Well, on the whole, it was a cool show from Ibadan.
Just keep tabs with your favourite TV Stations as you watch how the train traveled round West African cities in search of the next music superstar.
...whatta feeling!
Benin City agog with excitement!
Wednesday, 17 August 2011 14:23Hexagon Hotels, Benin went agog with excitement and fun on Saturday August 13 as tons of ‘Hopefuls’ converged for the auditions. There were those contestants who wowed the judges and there were those who didn’t quite meet the mark!
Benin auditions aired on TV, revealing all the kinds of people who showed up at the audition; the good, the deceived and the hilarious. Check out the young man with the native wrapper across his shoulder singing “Cooliyah kuliya kuliya”, ROTFL!!! Or the lady singing “Pofore, pofore”!! and the composer who sang about brushing your teeth with detergent and see if you teeth wouldn’t be cleaned up, hawking human beings in a show glass!!!! Against all the odds, the PF crew didn’t leave Benin without a good enough contestant to show for it. In your opinion, whose performance was the funniest of all?
All the same it was fun galore and a sweet display of talents which affirms the fact that Naija is awash with talent.
Did you ever get a NO from the judges? Don’t ever give up on your dreams. Success comes not to one who quits at the first fall, but to that person who refires and keeps trying till he succeeds.
The Assemly of Stars in Liberia!
Wednesday, 24 August 2011 14:18Liberia had its own share of the excitement as the audition train pulled to a halt last weekend @ The City Hall, Monrovia.
Several participants turned out, eager to show what they’ve got. Stars from previous seasons, Nicholas, Helen, and Samuel were present to give moral support to the budding stars.
Truth be told, the competition this season is going to be very stiff; Liberian folks are set to blow us all away.
Abuja, Kaduna and Lagos! Get set as the train heads in your direction.
Electrifying thrills @ Uyo!
Thursday, 25 August 2011 09:41The awaited Uyo auditions finally came last weekend (20th August) as eager participants from Uyo and environs trooped to Ibom Hall, Babangida Rd, Uyo to try their chance to stardom.
The excitement got to a state of frenzy as Iyanya (The Winner of Season 1) performed some lovely tunes from his album. They all identified with Iyanya as their hopes got renewed that if Iyanya could come this far, why can’t they?!
Despite their characterized accent, Uyo peeps did not fall short of the standard. They came totally prepared for the judges. Were they able to impress the judges enough? Time will tell …as the search continues!
Port Harcourt Audition
Saturday, 27 August 2011 20:30And the crowd crowded in on PF in PH to be crowned. Some croaked, some cracked and there were those who crooned. But who will be crowned?
PH peeps came out en-masse to display their musical talent and we weren’t disappointed. We saw the good, the bad and the superlatively funny.
Well what do you think about the contestant - ‘Dennis Lion Heart’ as he calls himself; the Michael Jackson wanna-be who believes he and MTN have a lot of business to do together? Really really funny!!!
Ghana Audition
Saturday, 27 August 2011 20:36The hype is now live in Accra. Great talent is taking the battle to the center stage. Faces from different places are in Accra for the race but who will be crowned?
Flowing from the nice sights and sounds of the streets of Ghana, up to the audition grounds, Ghana did not dull at the auditions. Did you see sweet Kesse, the first runner up from PF Season 3 interviewing with Joseph Benjamin in the Toyota car he won on the show? Sweet if you ask me plus his words, advising the contestants to be themselves and not be overconfident. Interesting victory dances from contestants who got yeses from the judges, more words of advice from Season 3’s, Christian, who said he ‘s been working on and is about to release a single. Who is wowed by the contestant, Nicole who left in the middle of her brother’s funeral to be at the audition? And she did get a ‘yes’ from the judges.
Auditions @ The Federal Capital Territory!
Thursday, 08 September 2011 07:36
National Women Development Center, Garki had an influx of hundreds of ‘wanna bes’ last weekend (Sept 3rd). These hopefuls were all in their best elements in a bid to give stardom a chance.
Very early in the morning, the gate of the venue was opened to as many as would want to give fame a chance. With tangible excitement, ‘state-of-the art’ swag, crooner’s voice, participants in and around Abuja trooped out en-mass to the venue to show what they’ve got.
Recently aired, the Abuja audition had a really glitzy opening, from the pristine audition venue to the arrival of the judges in style; one of them arrived in a Hummer Limousine. That day was in fact one of the judges’, Matilda’s birthday and she got a cake and lots of love on set.
There was a big crowd of contestants and the judges had a filled day as usual with the good voices, the not so good and the downright injurious. Did you see the guy whose singing was like an angry cat meowing loudly? Shiver my timbers; or the guy whose self composed song was richly interspersed with shouts of ‘danger’?! Whew. A big relief it was for the judges when Kamar came in with his guitar and serenaded their souls with music so beautiful, they didn’t want him to stop playing. Altogether, I guess you’d agree with me that Abuja auditions rocked!
The search for the next music mega star continued as the train finally pulled to a halt in Lagos.
Trust Las Gidi Peeps!!!
Kaduna Auditions
Thursday, 08 September 2011 07:58Folks from the north were not left out at all. God obviously must have evenly distributed talents at creation.
“Kadunians” as well as contestants from several Northern states of Nigeria, were not left out the PF excitement as the crowd poured into the Gamji Hall venue and took their turns singing to the judges. While some impressed the judges in the first round, some only succeeded in turning off the judges; and at the end, it was just one contestant, Zaliha who made it through to the next round. How do you see the guy who rendered a “song of peace” in Hausa language? Too bad, PF is unable to accommodate folk musicians for now, maybe for later considerations...
We are left wondering whether we are going to find another star like ‘Tolu’ of PF 3 from Kaduna this season? The stakes are very high because Kaduna peeps have stepped up their game.
...and the competition goes on...
