Delightful Cocktail of Musical Performances.

Delightful Cocktail of Musical Performances.

After a week's stay in the Academy, it was time for the contestants to prove what they have learnt so far on stage. They treated the whole of West Africa to a delightful cocktail of musical performances.

The evening kicked off with Didi, Marvellous, and Musulyn singing Michael Bolton's 'Lean On Me, 'So Amazing' by Luther Vandross and Alicia Keys' 'If I ain't got you'. They opened the floor with their individual performances easing everyone into the show fully.

Ayo, Kemi and Chinyere did not dull at all. They upped the game as each of them performed Bob Marley's 'Redemption Song', 'Best Thing I Never Had' by Beyonce Knowles and 'Someone Like You' by Adele.

After these six phenomenal performances, came Adetoun, Tega and Grace beautifully pulling 'Listen' by Beyonce, Toni Braxton's 'Unbreak My Heart'and 'Can't I Live' by Toni Braxton.

The next set of contestants sang their way into everyone's heart effortlessly as they took our musical journey to the next level as Oyinkansade sang 'So Sick' by Neyo, Edward performed 'All Night Long' by Lionel Richie and Brenda's energetic display of Beyonce's 'Hello'.

After these twelve awesome performances, the last three contestants took up the challenge and beautifully brought the day to a climax with Vanessa William's 'Color of the Wind', 'My Girl' by The Temptations and Reuben Studdards' 'Flying Without Wings'. So with Sonia, Joshua and Christian rounding in such manner, the judges and faculty took time to express their views.

While Brenda got a lot accolades from the faculty after mentioning that they all seemed to have sang in their comfort zones, the judges also felt the contestants were good but advised them to bring something exceptional to the table because only the very exceptional will survive.

Tomorrow, they will all be singing again but this time to escape being put on probation. As the contest toughens, the drama and twist begins!

Tega and Edward Bow Out of Project Fame Season 5: Elimination Show 2

The very first elimination show for the season started in a grand style with group performances from the contestants.

While the Female contestants did a beautiful ensemble of 'Don't Let Go' by En Vogue and the boys taking up the

challenge with Backstreet boys’  'Don't Leave Me'.

As Joseph Benjamin unavoidably absent on the show, Adora seamlessly hosted the show and introduced the fifteen (15) contestants

whose fate in the Academy would be determined on the show.

With rising perspirations, Adora invited Yeside Oredugba of Alexander Forbes who came prepared to present the list of the five (5) contestants

with the least number of votes and who would have to perform their way out of the claws of probation.

A Day of Pardon!

A Day of Pardon!

It’s one of the saddest days of the show, tonight two more contestants will be going home. The week-long tension reaches a climax for  Aziga, Emmanuel, Ruth, Isaac, Velma and Chidinma who could be going home today.

They have worked hard all week and now its time to perform the songs that landed them on probation, but before they do, the boys performed an energy-charged show-opening rendition of Boyz 11 Men’s ‘End of the Road’. We hope it’s not the ‘end of the road’ for two more boyz 2 night.

The show took another twist with the absence of two judges-TY Mix and Nomoreloss but the presence of Matilda Duncan, an Abuja based top-notch broadcaster.

Elimination Show 3: Unbelievable Eliminations Tonight

It was another emotion-laden show, not only for the contestants but also for the studio audience whom have come to give moral support to them. Knowing fully well that two more contestants will bid farewell to the competition tonight.

Meanwhile, the evening started on a note of new chances, with the performances of the Wild Card finalists. After the Google hangout session which held earlier in the week with the three judges choosing the best five from the pool of videos submitted, these contestants were shortlisted and were given a chance to show their stuff live on the show.

Here are the five contestants, the songs they performed and their unique numbers:

40  Anthony ----Micheal Jackson's You are not alone.

70  Henry ------Stuck on you by Lionel Richie.

50  Daniel -----All for one's I swear!

30  Allonyx ------Back at one by Brian Mcknight!

60  Ella ------Adele's  Someone like you.

Your votes will determine the top two, one of whom who will eventually join the contestants in the Academy, so keep your votes coming.

Straight on to the elimination show, Yeside Oredugba of Alexander Forbes was invited to come in with the list of contestants with the least votes. The contestants filed on stage with trepidation clearly written on their faces and one after the other, Joseph and Adora called out Ayo, Brenda, Sonia, Kemi, and Grace as the contestants on probation for the evening.

Joba, Chidinma and Emmanuel sadly leave PF 4 Stage!

It was a Tension soaked show which saw three of the seven contestants on probation saying goodbye to the competition for good.

In a new studio and an obviously excited audience the contestants tried their best to sing their way out of probation. Ruth started off with her usual energetic display performing Beyonce’s ‘Crazy in Love’. Next was Emmanuel whom with obvious improvement from his 1st performance did ‘Crawl’ by Chris Brown. Princess got everyone on their feet with her version of Celine Dion’s ‘Power of Love’. Chidinma took on ‘You don’t know my name’ by Alicia Keys, soft-spoken Rachael flagged by two guys performed ‘Battlefield’ by Jordin Sparks. Joba also brought it on with John Legend’s ‘I used to love you’, and lastly for the evening was Roy who capped the performances in a beautiful way by singing ‘Numb’ by Linkin Park.

Elimination show 5: Two New Stars Released from the Academy!

Elimination show 5: Two New Stars Released from the Academy!

Tonight's show opened with Adora dazzling in a well fitting Ankara dress and Joseph in an equally lovely black Pearl button native outfit.

After a look at what went down last weekend and what the contestants did during the week,it was time for the fateful event of the night.

It has been a beautiful journey in the past five weeks with ten contestants (including Ella-Wild Card entrant) left in the Academy.

After last weekend's Classic African Night, the contestants' fate as usual was determined by you the viewers' votes. And your votes for the week landed, Musulyn, Chinyere, Sonia, Christian and Didi on probation. And they had to sing their way to survive and escape the claws of elimination.

So, one after the other they all came out to perform the same songs they did last weekend. Musulyn-Angelique Kidjoe's 'Adouma', Chinyere-

Omawunmi's 'Love Nwantintin', Sonia despite her ill health again did a good one with-Onyeka Onwenu's-'Dancing in the sun', Christian again pulled a brilliant one with Sina Peters' 'Afro Juju' and finally Didi performed Sir Rex Lawson's 'Adure'.

After thorough deliberations, the judges which were Adebantu, Bibi Brew, TY Mix and Cobhams Asuquo (Guest Judge) saved Musulyn, Faculty opted

for Christian. The other contestants took turns to vote for their favourite, while Didi got three votes, Chinyere got one vote but sadly this vote was not good enough to save her, thereby with Sonia becoming the contestants not saved.

When asked to give their last words on stage; on a sad note, Sonia appreciated everyone especially Mummy J who she said has been more than a mother to her. 'I was healed here' was her conclusion. Chinyere on the other hand without betraying emotions confessed she has enjoyed herself and appreciated everyone for the votes and the platform she has been given, she promised to build on it and be the best at whatever she does.

It's always so sad to say goodbye, but at one time or the other, goodbye we must say. So on that note, we bid Sonia and Chinyere farewell and they both did ‘Tell him’ by Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion.

We look forward to tomorrow's exciting show of duets and cover song remixes.

Don't miss it..

Another Two Bite the Dust!

Monday, 05 December 2011 14:09
Another Two Bite the Dust!

Another night of suspense, who is going home?

The competition is hotter now, the contestants are good singers but the judges are looking out for the performance and the X factor they have to bring into the competition. So, tonight these singers needed to not only up their games to please the judges but also to escape elimination.

Earlier in the day, the ambience lit up as the excitement rose to a fever pitch with the visit of Midnight Star and SWV that rocked the world with breathtaking R&B music to the Ultima Studios, Lekki all the way from the US of A to give the contestants moral support and encourage them to be the best in all they do. They had fun so much as the contestants and uncle Ben in particular treated them to different Nigerian hits.

Back to the gist of the evening, with the conscpicous absence of the Academy Principal, award winning actress Joke Silver who is fondly referred to as 'Mummy J', the show kicked off as Ghanaian Ethel did a smooth presentation of Lucky Dube's 'Different Colours' as the other contestants on probation performed the same songs that landed them on Probation one after the other.

Then came 'judgement' time. Surprisingly, the highest vote from viewers went not to Ethel as usual, not to Rachael, but to Roy...wow! and that was how the last guy standing escaped elimination. Ethel found favour in the face of the judges as they gladly saved, Ese was saved by the Faculty. As Monica and Ruth were the contestants not on probation, it was therefore their bid to save the last contestant. While Monica rooted Rachael, Ruth voted Yvonne and the need to break the tie came and the contestant saved by the viewers was called to do this. Roy with much thought saved Yvonne and that marked the exit of our Liberian Princess and Rachael. Sadly, though Princess and Rachael brought all their energy and best into their performance, they were not lucky enough to escape the sting of elimination.

When asked how they both felt about their exit, Princess obviously felt bad but still did not forget to send all appreciation to God almighty for bringing her this far. Rachael in her own words said, 'I never imagined I'll be here at a point in my life where I didn't believe I could do anything, but here I am'. God loves me she concluded.

The evening show came to a beautiful end as they both performed Whitney Houston and Cece Winnan's 'Count on me' as it ushered in an evening of beautiful duets tomorrow.
