Princess rose to the occasion with Celine Dion’s ‘Power of Love’. After the commercial break, Ethel took on the challenge with Alicia Keys’ ‘No One’, followed by Chidinma who also sang Alicia Keys’ ‘Don’t Know My Name’. Yvonne’s performance clearly showed that she has gradually evolved from the shy unpredictable girl to a bold singer and performer. Her electrifying delivery of Rihanna’s ‘Man Down’ brought everyone to their feet cheering in excitement. Roy on his part tried his best with Linkin Park’s ‘Numb’, but the judges were not impressed and felt his performance fell short of the standard he had set for himself with previous performances.
Â
Isaac salvaged his image with his performance of Luther Vandross’ ‘So Amazing’. The judges thought he was on point. Ruth performed Beyonce’s ‘Crazy in Love with You’ and the judges thought she showed a completely different side of herself which they loved, but she got in trouble because she sacrificed singing for performance. Emmanuel sang Chris Brown’s ‘Crawl’, which didn’t earn him any praise from the judges. The hitherto indefatigable Ese sang Keisha Cole’s ‘Heaven Sent’, but the judges felt that her performance fell below expectation.
At the end of the day Princess(11), Roy(13), Rachael(12), Joba(7), Ruth(14), Emmanuel(3), and Chidinma(2) landed on the probation list of the not-so-easy-to-please judges and 3 of them will sadly leave the competition by weekend. If you think any of them deserve a second chance, then text their voting numbers to 306 in Nigeria & Liberia from an MTN line. In Sierra Leone from a comium line, and to 1739 in Ghana from an MTN line. Lots of prizes await voters too!
