Two days to the D-day, Mummy J reminisced on all that happened during the season, from the constructive and objective criticisms of the judges, the safety net of the faculty, to the ingenuity of the contestants. As a matter of fact, she pointed out the beautiful studio set and the appreciative audience.
Later in the day, a surprise party was organised for the contestants and they were so happy to see everyone. Everyone? Yes, from the judges, the faculty, Project Fame alumni from Iyanya, Chidinma, Mike, Monica, Tomiwa, Kesse and so many of them. Some OAP champions were not left out, it was a full house and Mummy J thanked everyone for coming as they all moved to the party ground.
It was mega music, plenty to eat and dancing things as they all bonded as one big family.
They danced and partied till lights out...
As the competition gradually pulls to an end, the contestants still kind of found it difficult to come to terms with how far they have come. Mummy J took time out to hear them out individually.
They openly expressed their heartfelt appreciation to her and how her insight has helped with their post-PF plans. Oyinkansade particularly seem to be concerned with whom will be the next PF star, he was advised to leave it to the Lord. Adetoun also had an issue with her Dad accepting her as a Fuji cum waka artiste, but Mummy J told her to relax as she will be amazed at the acceptance she'll get from her Dad.
Another day started with Ms.Ige who asked Marvellous to sing but judging from his attitude and looks, he's probably in a funk and needs some time to get his act together.
Next she listened to Ayo, who will be performing "jankolikoko" with Chidinma winner MTN Project Fame West Africa 3. Adetoun was next.
Voice class in 60 seconds:
How to ad-lip a song. Use very simple scales with simple vowels (aaaa-eee-eee—aaa) do the notes without slurring them and keep repeating them in cycles.
Oyinkansade was made to sing "Bodyhug". He got stuck on the igbo part of the track and was compelled to either learn or resign from the Academy which seem not to be a favourable option to him.
The day continued with a re-cap of their visit to cool 96.9fm where they had a swell time with Mannie and the Angels. The contestants were allowed to perform their personal compositions and canvass for votes.
The day ended with Kaffy's class on choreography and performances for the Fela tribute songs.
With preparations in top gear, keep watching and keep voting for your favourite contestant
Today began with a quick re-cap of contestants’ performances in mummy J's class. She talked about what they did well and what they did not do so well. The contestants were encouraged to keep up the good work in the few remaining days and beyond. She then went ahead to advise them on how to save up and invest their money, rather than squander or spend the money on other people, “invest your money and then spend the remaining”, she advised.
The contestants obviously had an interesting time during the "Google hangout" session. They got to know they have fans around the world who called in from Ukraine, France, Nigeria and other parts of the world. They sang and canvassed for votes and sure had a swell time.
They were later asked about how they feel as the season gradually pulls to an end. They all confessed they’ll miss the Academy and faculty members especially Uncle Ben's classes which never went by without dolling out nicknames to them, and also their "moments of torture’.
The day ended as the contestants continued to show their gratitude for the time spent in the Academy which they will not forget in a long while.
As the days roll by, the contestants need your votes more than ever to make it to the end. Who is your favourite contestant? Then crown him/her the winner with your votes...
The day started with uncle Ben waking the contestants to have a 'sit-down' with them and get to find out what they've learnt in the academy so far. He wanted to know how the Academy has brought growth to their music career. His questions pointed to Oyinkansade's confidence level, Marvellous' control, Ayo and Adetoun's self discovery, Musulyn's growth and so on. He went ahead to applaud those who have been consistent and he pointed out that the supposed underdogs- Oyinkansade, Adetoun and later Christian- have all improved and now have a good chance at stardom.
Ms.Ige's class started the day, rehearsing personal composition with the contestants. She started with Ayo, Ella, then Musulyn came up with the question "how do you not sound classical?" The few issues Musulyn had with her song were addressed without much ado.
Christian also had issues with his song because of the latin in it. He was chanting them instead of singing them, but gradually eased into the song.
Ige's Voice Class in 60seconds:(Vibrato)
What is the vibrato?: Simply an oscillation between two notes, a quick rapid movement between two notes. You can achieve vibrato by getting a comfortable note and then a slight note above it (go from one note to another and repeat that in quick succession) but make sure you have good breath control. Repeat this till you get an excellent vibrato. Don't over use it in any song through.
Tosin Bucknor of TOP Radio, was tonight's master class guest. She talked about how they present themselves to the outside world, how they look, think, react to issues, etc. She asked all the contestants to tell her something that nobody on the outside knows about them and there was a moment of truth...lols
She also revealed secrets to the 'super-star life' and the need for PAs, Managers and an entourage who will handle issues that they may not readily handle.
As the finals approach, keep voting for your favourites...
The day was started with Bob Marley tribute songs which Uncle Ben rehearsed with the contestants.Musulyn seems to be having issues with finding her melody, explaining that working on her personal composition was on her mind constantly. Well... hope she gets over that soon. Uncle Ben announced the cancellation of the collaborations with the past stars of Project Fame West Africa.
Marvellous wasn't sure of his favorite performance, while others picked the performances that gave them standing ovations. Ayo chose Olufunmi, Musulyn-Ole ku, Adetoun- Salawa Abeni, Ella-I Was Here, Christian- Pay Phone and Oyinkansade-Bubble but Uncle Ben helped out after the class and he decided to perform 'Holy Spirit' again.
Mummy J came in and read Social Media comments directed at the contestants from their fans and she then went ahead to introduce a debate topic 'Is Partial Nudity or Hip Grinding An Essential Part Of Music Videos'?
Marvellous spoke for the notion and Ayo spoke against it while others contributed, it almost ended in an argument, but they all concluded that "controversy sells".
The day ended with Ms.Kaffy teaching the contestants their moves for their songs; lots of jumping and stunts on stage all in a bid to bring you a wow performance this weekend...
While they get ready for you, keep the votes coming..
The day started off with the morning exercise and learning from Ms kaffy how to salsa, mambo and tango. Though it proved difficult initially but they learnt it anyways and eventually made it look simple.
Mummy J came in and got reports from the contestants on their meet n' greet; On what their fans had to say to them and what they did for their fans. The contestants obviously were overwhelmed at the love showed them by the fans and it really encouraged them to go ahead and do better. While Mummy J was assisting with their songs, Ige came in for her class. Apparently, Mummy J was cutting into her class.
Musulyn had her opinion about her song preference and the kind of image she wants to pass across to her fans. Ayo on the other hand did his song well, while Adetoun went with the waka feel she had done before. Oyinkansade did justice to his R'n'B song. Ella, was very comfortable with her song. Marvellous(the love crooner) wrote a beautiful song about a lady, and Christian went all romantic on his song too.
Ige's voice classe in 60 seconds;
Ige this time talked about hitting the high notes. To hit the high notes. First know your range, to gauge that do the bubble exercise with your lips and the 'sigh' exercise to feel your range.
While you keep trying this, don't forget to vote for your favourite contestants...
Project Fame...whatta feeling!
You want a chance to have a chat with the contestants live, then hangout with us on the 24th of September 2012 at 12:00.
Don't miss it!
It was contestants' day out today. They all woke up very early in the morning to canvass for votes.
Their first point of call was to MTN head office where they went to pay a visit to the sponsors of the show. It was a warm reception for them and the contestants were so thrilled at the way everyone came out to encourage them. They sang and danced and the CMO was particularly happy to receive them.
Their next point of call was at Top Radio with Tosyn Bucknor 'Area mama' where the contestants also sang and canvassed for votes. Phone lines were opened for fans to call-in and many called to cheer them on.
At Cool 99.6fm with Freeze, was simply an awesome experience for them to have gone out of the Academy to solicit for votes.
And back to the Academy, though tired, they had to face their classes. Kaffy came in for her class, it was Caribbean and latin dance moves session getting them ready for the weekend's performances.
Yea, as they all get set to thrill you, don't forget to lend your votes as they right now need your votes to make it through.
Project fame...whatta feeling!
The day started off with Mummy J commending the contestants on their last performances. But it was one minute of praise with one minute of correction for Oyinkansade who was considered by some not to have performed up to par. She constructively criticized oyinkansade's diction and Christian's tied up emotions. To help them all make the needed corrections she charged Ayo, Toun and Musulyn to inspire Christian and they successfully ignited the emotions needed to sing his favourite John Legend's 'Ordinary People'.
After this exercise, he repeated the song and like magic he was able to exude a lot more emotions and this enraptured every other member of the class.
Later in the day, the contestants were napping when Uncle Ben came in for his class but Adetoun was no where to be found. Where could she be? Ayo found her and brought her back to the class where she explained what kept her away. She was busy meditating somewhere in the Academy. After pardoning them, he went ahead to real out the songs they'll be performing this weekend. He applauded Marvelous for a job well done and at the same time scolded him for forgetting his lyrics.
Another beautiful day in the academy. Cobhams walked in to rehearse the original songs of the contestants with them.
Musulyn came up first with her self-written track; Cobhams assisted her with writing the second verse as it gradually evolves in to a hit track.
The beautiful TOOLZ of Beat FM visited the Academy; on a mentoring session. While she made out time to advice everyone on how to succeed as artistes – fight for what you want and make use of the time you have to get what you are aiming at, was her final words.
Later in the evening, the contestants took a trip to Cobham's studio; with so much anxiety and anticipation. They rehearsed a track titled "I'm a winner" which Cobham's produced with Season 3 winners.
As the competition draws to its finals, your favourite contestant need your votes now more than ever.
Keep watching and keep voting for your favourite(s).
Project Fame...whatta feeling!
Mummy J's class started off the day. She had the contestants speak the lyrics of their songs to her. She was looking and listening to get their pronunciation and interpretation in order. Ella went first and towards the end of her song, mummy J noticed her fault was with the word "ASKS". She had to learn not to pronounce it as ‘axe’.
Musulyn had no issues with her pronunciations...only with the interpretation. Mummy J then emphasized to them that emotions in a song is the connecting point between them and the audience, so it is very important to understand and correctly emote the true meaning of their songs.
It started as a normal day for the contestants, little did they know what was in store, and how upside down it would turn out.
Hmmnnn! Ige's class had the first twist of the day. Her therapeutic session, which started with imagining a dark tunnel soon led to tears. The contestants free-styled and sang through their tears. It was a pure session to bring out their fighting spirit, to restore strength to that contestant who may be losing hope and feels subdued. Didi cried the most and later confessed to the awesomeness and the healing he got out of that session.
Mummy J in her usual motherly demeanor came in for her class to listen to the contestants' personal composition. Each of them sang their songs and Mummy J was quite impressed. But for Didi who seems to be having a bad week because of the judges' comment on his last performance. She advised him to get over that quickly because the competition is closer than ever before.
The morning was kicked off with a play by play of how the contestants performed the previous night.
Mummy J gave them a talk on "how to package yourself as an artist". She emphasized the fact that growth as an artist depends a lot on packaging and also advised them not to be what they are not. ‘Cut your coat according to your cloth’.
Christian made it known to us that LAGOS is the heart of entertainment in Nigeria, and concluded he was moving to lagos immediately after his studies...he said he wouldn't want to live in Ajegunle though. Mummy j reminded him on the number of successful musicians that came out of Ajegunle.
Other contestants made known their experiences in music and commercializing their talents.
Uncle Ben came in and met the contestants having lunch. He joined in on the dining area and made AYO the house captain due to his flawless performance the previous night.
He gave them their songs. The songs are going to be reggae and dance songs. The songs also are to pay respect to magical heroes in the industry like Whitney Houston, Marvin Gaye...etc
The day ended with them adding words to their song titles and it was interesting. Also, ELLA mentioned that her mind is open and she is set to accept whoever comes tops at the end of the competition.
On the other note, before the end of the season, the judges may want to bring back one eliminated contestant of their choice. Which of them would you want to see again on stage?
Before the end of the season, the judges may want to bring back one eliminated contestant of their choice. Which of them would you want to see again on stage?
The contestants really mean business with their duets and found corners in the Academy to practise together and get it really right. Ayo and Oyinkansade seem to be flowing beautifully together and Marvellous and Ella are also working hard at it.
Mummy J’s class next and back to talking through the lines of their songs. It doesn’t look easy. Learning songs is not as easy as it seems, do you think you can do this? Sona’s not feeling well and missed the class.
Having an opportunity to talk to family and friends is a normal thing to us all. But imagine yourself staying several weeks without talking to those that matter so much to you?, how will you feel?
The contestants had the opportunity to a call and it was so golden to them. You can see and feel how precious a one-minute call to a loved one means to our dear contestants! Hmmnn...
Well...the day kicked off with kaffy's fitness class. It went well quite alright...but our dear Marvellous was nowhere in sight, is this due to his voice again or his sprained ankle? as he lay in bed while others were in class with Kaffy.
Later in the day, Cobhams came in for their afternoon session and continued where he stopped in his last master class. Their task is to write their own songs. Chinyere was first with her igbo song, then Adetoun. Cobhams, with his delicate and unparalleled sense of music giving world-class advice as he took them step-by-step with the piano...truly is a living legend in music.
After this class, it was relaxation time for them all, and all the contestants took to the pool side enjoying the cool evening breeze.
If you want to keep your favorite contestant enjoying the PF breeze keep Voting for them and use their picture as your Facebook, twitter and Blackberry display picture throughout today.
Project Fame ..whatta feeling!
Today, Mummy J asked each of the paired contestants to interpret their songs. Ayo and Oyinkansade went first with "street credibility"; they seemed to flow well with the song and each other.
Ige's class had Marvellous and Ella rehearse “beauty and the beast" despite Marv's bad voice, he pulled it through. Musulyn and Christian did, "If i were a boy remix".
It was a really tough day for Ella and Marvellous who have been paired to perform 'Beauty and the beast'. They started the day in tears after Ella complained about Marvellous' not rehearsing with her. What could be his problem? He would later explain to Mummy J in her class that it was due to his voice loss. Which made him quite touchy. Mummy J encouraged Ella to understand and give Marvellous the chance to recover.
But it wasn’t over, hot tears flowed again in Uncle Ben's class after he sharply reprimanded them to get their acts together and fix their problems. Hmmnnn. Is this a case of 'eager-to-perform' Ella and 'I-need-some-rest' Marvellous? How will they resolve this issue?
Ella settled in to the Academy quickly and waited in class with the others for Mummy J. To choose the next captain mummy J and Christian the outgoing captain agreed that the best danced contestant will be the one.
Each contestant came out one after the other and danced. It was an exhibition of varying dance steps. At the end of the game, Musulyn emerged the winner and therefore became the Academy captain for the week.
Mummy J then took up the peace maker task again. This time around, the scuffle was between Adetoun and Sonia (did you just say Sonia again?) Well... this time around the matter was about Sonia not making her bed and then deciding to sleep on someone else's which Adetoun stood against. Both of them were sternly warned especially Sonia who seems to have an issue with anger management. Mummy J resolved the issue and then took her leave.
The contestants were a little bit relaxed in Uncle Ben's class, except perhaps for Ella who is new to Uncle Ben's style of teaching. It was a 'Welcome Ella' moment with fear written over her face. Uncle Ben then called out the songs they'll be performing this weekend and also their class assignment before he left the class. They have two songs each, one a duet and the other a cover song that they need to re-arrange to another genre of music. That sounds tough. Ella and Marvellous were paired as Beauty and The Beast. That will be a tough one, let's see if they can pull it off? All fingers are crossed till this weekend...
Don't stop watching and keep voting for your favourite(s)
Project Fame...whatta feeling!
It was a day for Visions for the contestants. Before they went out for meet and greet, Ige had a short session with them. Oyinkansade, Chinyere and Didi took turns to rehearse the songs they'll be performing this weekend.
Immediately after this class, Bisola Longe-a productivity coach came in to have a time-out with the contestants. The subject of her discuss was 'Vision'. She asked what vision is and what their life vision is. she then addressed the issue of attitude. Are you are spectator, a critic or a player? She pointed out the following as significant keys to a productive life: Vision, Sense of purpose, attitude, discipline, and habits. When present they make the different in life.
Click the video below to watch more of this inspiring class.
Mummy J, oh Mummy J! She came in for her class and probed both Christian and Sonia concerning yesterday's fight. She pointed a lesson in there for both of them on anger-management especially when it comes to women. This led to the topic of the day - "anger management in relationships".
Musulyn spoke of her experience, Grace also of how it took her a while not to hate her father and the entire masculine gender.
Oyinkansade played the wise man and told Grace the truth behind hating people or bearing grudges.
Mummy J indeed appeased both parties and was again able to bring back peace to the house. Who says she's not blessed?
The day started off with kaffy's exercise class after which Mummy J came in and did a little psycho-analysis on Musulyn; using her as a point of refrence to teach the contestants the reality behind deep and true emotions and how these emotions can be communicated.
Ayo, was next; who talked about his experiences but it seems his was fuelled from excitement.
Mummy J gave them a task to divide themselves into 2groups and then to come up with an African themed play, poetry, music or drama. Which they would then present.
How to make your voice Dynamic with Ige Voice coach.
Mummy J came in to the Academy with a bag load of accolades for the contestants, not only for a clean environment but also for the brilliant stage performances over the weekend.
She applauded those that did well and did not fail to point out their short comings and encouraged them to put in more effort to get better results.
Dynamics was the subject of discussion in Ige's class. How to work round a voice texture to bring out some sort of dynamism. She also exposed them to music melodies.
In Uncle Ben's class, they all got the songs they would be performing this weekend followed immediately with rehearsals started by Christian performing Shina Peters' 'E se o'.
Christian landed in Uncle Ben's net when he found it a bit challenging to pronounce the yoruba words properly and also with the corresponding dancestep. Musulyn too did not enjoy the class as Uncle Ben brought out the needed aggressive emotion needed for the song. She struggled to break through.
Kaffy dealt with Christian's dance steps when she came in for her class and he seems more confident now to perform this weekend.
Has he really developed confidence? Will Musulyn perform well this weekend after the ordeal she went through in Uncle Ben’s class?
Remember to keep your votes coming... Whattta feeling...
Love is in the air as the PF contestants start another week in the Academy after thrillng the whole of West Africa over the weekend. They did a playback of these performances, while those that performed well were happy, those that didn’t do well enough knew they need to put more into their performances.
Chistian was democratically elected as the captain of the Academy. He initially never wanted this, but left with no choice he accepted the responsibility and appointed Grace as his personal assistant whom they have christened 'Ancestor' (for being the very first captain). How will he fare as the captain? What will happen at the end of the week?
Well, guess we should wait till then. He went ahead to read out his manifesto to the house. He promised them a peaceful reign and free food. Funny, huh? He did not stop at that, he also public declared his love for Grace. Now it is obvious that the contestants are beginning to a develop strong affinity for themselves, it has gone past just voting alliances. Joshua and Chinyere seem to have a thing, and Ayo and Musulyn also look like something could be cooking...hmmnnn!
How will these brewing love stories go? Guess Iyanya was right after all, after speaking from personal experience at his last visit to the academy.
Sadly enough, two contestants will still walk out of the competition. what will happen then? The wild card winner will be an interesting addition, are you voting for one of them to join the experience. Don’t forget to keep your favourite in the contest, keep voting.
To vote, send his/her unique number to 306 if you are in Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Liberia and 1740 if you are in Ghana.
Mummy J surprised everyone with a shock bedroom inspection before the class. Both rooms were in a poor state and she had to make them clean up their rooms. They made their beds, packed their suitcases and tidied up the whole place before they settled in to proper class activities.
It was a debating day, with contestants divided into two teams and they balloted for which side to support. The main subject of the debate was Academic success,Does it impede being a performer or does being a performer impede academic success. They debated intelligently-defining Academics, Success, and other related terms. At the end no one won the debate though both parties made valid arguments because a team insisted that a performer needs to be continuously educated to remain a successful performer and the other team believed that a successful academician cannot be a performer. What is your opinion about this matter?
Brenda as the captain for the week seems to be having real issues with the other contestants. She constantly has to result to shouting before she can get them to do their chores. Its not been easy and she's not finding it funny at all. Let's see if she can pull it through till the end of the week...
(Do you think she can?)
The exercise for the day was to create a bill board of songs. It took a lot of shouting to create the sanity needed to move ahead with the exercise. They eventually came up with the following global all-time hit songs but not without some contention from Musulyn:
1. Thriller by Michael Jackson
2. No Woman No Cry by Bob Marley
3. Sexual Healing by Marvin Gaye
4. Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong
5. I Will Always Love You by whoxxx?
6. Don't Worry by Bobby xxx
7. I Believe I Can Fly by R. Kelly
8. All Night Long by Lionel Richie
9. Isn't She Lovely by Stevie Wonder
10. End Of The Road by Boys II Men
Is it real friendship that the contestants share or brewing love stories? As the contestants paired up as male and female in their rooms enjoying their short break and oblivious of how time had flown. They did not even know when Ige got in to the class and she had to go call them out of their rooms.
Hmmnn! Are they building real friendships, hot romance or voting alliances? Guess time will tell what actually these contestants are up to.
Getting late to classes is a very high offence in the Academy, but in Ige's usual demeanour, she pardoned this offence and continued. (Thank God for Ige, this would not have passed in Uncle Ben's class without a major eruption). Her class was quite technical. Still on the breath control exercises and proper use of vocal chords. She did a power point presentation of the importance of these exercises. 'Twas a very insightful session.
Later in the day, the contestants scurried into the class as Uncle Ben too came in for his class. Uncle Ben in his usual element got them rehearsing for this weekend's show, it was not a good day for Marvellous at all. He was supposed to sing while dancing but the two combined together became an issue for him. Well...after trying hard and couldn't pull through, he was sent out of the class.
Later in the day, Marvellous, Kemi and Didi visited Wana at Inspiration FM canvassing for votes. It was a very interesting time for them, good to get out of the academy for a while. They enjoyed the time-out, as their fans were allowed to call in. They got lots of shout-outs and then made their way back to the Academy. Meanwhile in the Academy, Kaffy came in for her dance class and got the contestants moving to their songs. It was a very interesting time for them as they rehearsed and danced till the end of the class.
To keep them dancing in the competition, just lend your votes...
The contestants enjoyed a swell time in the Academy today. Guess they are becoming more relaxed, they played the mimmick game. Ayo smoothly acted out Uncle Ben, Marvellous and Brenda played hosts. While Adetoun posed as Ade Bantu, Joshua as TY Mix and Grace as Bibie Brew, Kemi acted Mummy J, Sonia Ige and Musulyn as Kaffy.
It was an interesting time-out for the contestants.
Before this was their early morning fitness class where Kaffy made them jog round the Academy. The excitement of the day came to its peak in Mummy J's class when she taught them about diction and also how to act out their roles while performing.
It's a new week, which means a new House captain needs to be selected. As usual a special exercise was devised to choose, this time it was a breath-control exercise. Everyone was to hold his/her breath for as long as possible-a long breath is needed to hold a long note- and go under water in the pool. The last person to come up for air wins and becomes the captain for the week. Guess who won ? Brenda! When asked in Mummy J's class how she intends to cope as the youngest, she said she will control all the contestants as expected, and also address the way they talk to themselves especially amongst the ladies.
At this point Mummy J addressed the skirmish that has been raging the Academy especially amongst the female contestants. Mummy J advised Sonia to respect others while trying to make her point known on any issue. Marvellous and Brenda had their own fair share of their arguments. Guess this should be expected amongst people from different backgrounds living together.
It was a lovely day and a cheerful one in the Academy for all the contestants after the teary week. Kemi wrote her apology to kaffy on almost countless full-scalp sheets and many tears which earner her way back into the classes after yesterday's suspension. So, the early morning fitness class went well with everyone in top spirit, dancing and cheering each other on. Guess that was a good way to have started the day.
In Uncle Ben and Ige's classes, it was rehearsals and more rehearsals, especially for Didi who has a falsetto song to perform this weekend. All eyes were on him to deliver one of Robin Thicke's most popular hits. The stakes are very high and those that have not really done so well are working hard at it.
The contestants woke up to their early morning fitness game, but Kemi was not really in a good mood for the day.
During the class, her not-too-good mood prevailed and got into Kaffy's black book which earned her suspension from all the classes for the day. She left the class in tears but rather than apologizing, she just stood there brooding.
In Mummy J's class, Kemi was asked to write an apology letter to Kaffy while she serves her punishment. What really could the matter be?
Guess we need to ask Kemi what caused the emotional breakdown.
Further into Mummy J's class, she asked some of the contestants to act out some emotions like joy, fear, anger and so on.
Uncle Ben's entrance brought some scurrying around amongst the contestants. They all quickly made way to class, so as not to be late. Fortunately, everyone was at peace in Uncle Ben's class.
The contestants woke up to start their with punishment. What could have happened? They were all still in bed when Kaffy got into class for the early morning fitness class. It was only Marvellous who got to class on time. They all hurried to class only to see Kaffy and the fitness team already in class. Guess the punishment was deserved.
Edward announced that Sonia would be the last to bathe after everyone else. All the other contestants agreed but luckily for her Mummy J came to the rescue. She dug to the root of the matter and warned Sonia and others not to waste so much time in the bathroom and toilet knowing well that there are others sharing this facility. And that was how Mumm J in her motherly demeanor eased the uneasy calm that had prevailed in the Academy.
Everyone raced into the class at the sight of Uncle Ben. No one dare come to his class late but Edward-captain for the week and Grace too were caught in the late-comer's net but he pardoned them.
He declared this week as R&B week, where the contestants will be taking up recent R&B songs and some that are quite vintage; and also group performances with the boys singing against the girls. He then went ahead to read out the songs they will be performing this weekend and also did not fail to remind them that some of them will sadly kiss the Academy goodbye this saturday.
Five days in the academy and in pops Iyanya. It must have been comforting to have someone who had been through it before and who can tell them how it really is, and in deed he told the truth. Iyanya said focus on the goal, don't let any distractions get in the way, not even your feelings. He also told them what its like when its all over, no matter at what stage you leave.
The contestants went through quite a drilling early this morning. Starting with mental strength, then onto multiple press-ups, hops and jogging round the Academy. Kaffy, the fitness coach cum dance instructor is determined to get them sweating real hard.
Thank God for Mummy J’s class which was after Breakfast. Evidently, Christian thoroughly enjoyed it and went on and on describing breakfast as his best meal. Edward also liked the meal so much he used his african fork. Mummy J could not hide her disappointment at him and Christian who were caught doing this with both hands to stop this habit.
Next mummy J had them play out a game where they act out an expression that reflects their names. Ayo was the most expressive and correctly interpreted his name and so he won the game. Marvelous did well too and was commended.
Uncle Ben’s class, started on a humorous note with the removal of wigs but turned out to be a tense one, particularly for Oyinkansade who was not spared at all. Diction was the cause, it landed him an immediately sending out of the class. Later called back only to be handed over to the others who were encouraged to help him out with his diction.
Ige’s class was enjoyably tough, and she seems to be liked a lot by the contestants. They rehearsed and rehearsed their songs.
Marvellous was later seen helping Oyinkansade out with his diction.
Will he improve? Guess time will tell...
Brenda got motherly counsel from Mummy J, Sonia fell into Uncle Ben's 'late-comer's' net. Both of them sure won't forget today in a hurry.
Mummy J gave clear motherly rules to under-aged Brenda, telling her the issues considered before allowing her to get into the Academy in the first place. She told her to be covered at all times. No low-necks and definitely no skimpy dresses and she accepted without reservations.
It was Ige's first voice training class and trust, she has got a lot of technical words to play around with in her music class. she started out with asking the contestants what music is all about, and they started doling out all manner of definitions. She came to the rescue and took them through the basics of singing. She said her classes would entail.
1. Unlearn bad singing habits,
2. Learn and practice proper singing habits,
3. Expand your mind as regards to voice,
4. How to sing together and blend,
Straight to serious business, the faculty-Mummy J, Ige, Kaffy and Uncle Ben made their way into the Academy for a formal introduction.
Mummy J introduced each faculty member and in what areas they will be working to improve and polish the contestants. She was curious about why they chose Project Fame. While most of them ranted about coming to learn, and would be happy even if they don't eventually win (yeah right); Oyinkansade confessed emphatically that he is here to win. Guess time will tell.
Mummy J's session, saw her asking Grace the Academy captain for the week to take her on a familiarization tour of the Academy. They started off from the guys room, where Mummy J encouraged them to clean their carpet daily so that dust does gather and affect their voices and also to lay their beds in the morning before they are set to go to class. On getting to the girls' room, she had issues with luggage everywhere and also clothes hanging everywhere (guess that's girly). She scolded some of the girls for bad bed-making habits and immediately made sure they fixed their rooms.
Getting in to the Academy was a dream come true for all of the contestants. Their entry into the academy was punctuated with screams of joy and excitement. It was one of those too-good-to-be-true moments. The lush furnishing, elegant framed pictures on the walls, a mirrored dance and fitness room, swimming pool, patio dining area all looked like a movie. But the fabulous 15 made it in after a long tough road.
