Reggae Night!
Tuesday, 29 November 2011 07:27
It’s reggae night where the remaining contestants had to sing their hearts out to escape probation but some were not so lucky enough to escape.
Gorgeous Ese started the evening beautifully with Bob Marley’s ‘Who the cap fits’ and Kwame was forced to pay for this flawless performance. Sassy Ruth got everyone yearning for more with her electrifying performance of Bob Marley’s ‘Buffalo Soldier’. Dressed the part and with corresponding attitude she wowed everyone.
Ghanaian Ethel also smoothly sang ‘Different Colours’ by Lucky Dube and then came soft spoken Rachael who with her high pitched tone sang Gregory Isaacs ‘Number One’.

He however feels that he doesn’t know enough about music to make a successful career of it and for this reason he hopes to go far in the Project Fame West Africa competition. Oyinkansade is south-pawed and plays the left-handed guitar.
Elimination show 6: Twists and Turns As Another Two Contestants Face Elimination!
Sunday, 16 September 2012 06:25
It was another night of excitement laced tension as two more contestant will sadly bid farewell to the competition. To kick off the evening was a medley of Whitney Houston's songs as a tribute to this great woman of songs who passed on earlier in the year. It was a brilliant performance, so don’t miss it.
Then hearts skipped a bit when it was time to reveal the five contestants with the least votes. In no particular order, Adetoun, Didi, Christian, Ella, and Oyinkansade turned out to be the contestants whose votes were not enough to keep them off probation block. The five of them repeated the songs sang individually last week. This time it was not only to impress their fans but to impress the judges and maybe the faculty who will save one contestant each from the claws of elimination.
Time came for judges and faculty to save one contestant each, and it sure appeared to be a very onerous task deciding who to save, but eventually the judges saved Adetoun, and the faculty freed Oyinkansade. For the three other contestants not on probation, two votes went to Christian while Musulyn decided to vote Ella leaving Didi and of course Ella as the eliminated contestants.
While giving their final speech, Didi appreciated everyone especially the faculty and judges and of course those who have encouraged him with votes and prayers. Ella, though had a short stay appreciated the faculty, and the judges for believing in her. On that note, Didi performed for the last time on stage for the evening. While Didi started with 'Return of The Mark' by Mark Morrison. Next up was Ella to perform love on Top by Beyonce .......then suddenly the judges pulled a surprise and chose to exercise their power of recall.

Another Two Bite the Dust!
Monday, 05 December 2011 14:09
Another night of suspense, who is going home?
The competition is hotter now, the contestants are good singers but the judges are looking out for the performance and the X factor they have to bring into the competition. So, tonight these singers needed to not only up their games to please the judges but also to escape elimination.
Earlier in the day, the ambience lit up as the excitement rose to a fever pitch with the visit of Midnight Star and SWV that rocked the world with breathtaking R&B music to the Ultima Studios, Lekki all the way from the US of A to give the contestants moral support and encourage them to be the best in all they do. They had fun so much as the contestants and uncle Ben in particular treated them to different Nigerian hits.
Back to the gist of the evening, with the conscpicous absence of the Academy Principal, award winning actress Joke Silver who is fondly referred to as 'Mummy J', the show kicked off as Ghanaian Ethel did a smooth presentation of Lucky Dube's 'Different Colours' as the other contestants on probation performed the same songs that landed them on Probation one after the other.
Then came 'judgement' time. Surprisingly, the highest vote from viewers went not to Ethel as usual, not to Rachael, but to Roy...wow! and that was how the last guy standing escaped elimination. Ethel found favour in the face of the judges as they gladly saved, Ese was saved by the Faculty. As Monica and Ruth were the contestants not on probation, it was therefore their bid to save the last contestant. While Monica rooted Rachael, Ruth voted Yvonne and the need to break the tie came and the contestant saved by the viewers was called to do this. Roy with much thought saved Yvonne and that marked the exit of our Liberian Princess and Rachael. Sadly, though Princess and Rachael brought all their energy and best into their performance, they were not lucky enough to escape the sting of elimination.
When asked how they both felt about their exit, Princess obviously felt bad but still did not forget to send all appreciation to God almighty for bringing her this far. Rachael in her own words said, 'I never imagined I'll be here at a point in my life where I didn't believe I could do anything, but here I am'. God loves me she concluded.
The evening show came to a beautiful end as they both performed Whitney Houston and Cece Winnan's 'Count on me' as it ushered in an evening of beautiful duets tomorrow.
Six African Hits!
Monday, 05 December 2011 18:37
African night on MTN Project Fame West AFRICA was original and fresh. The contestants and presenters all decked in stylish and elegant African motifs, coupled with first class performances.
In the first segment, the contestants performed duets: Yvonne paired with Roy to perform Onyeka Owenu and Sunny Ade's 'Wait for Me' and the judges thought their teamwork was great and the performance honest and enjoyable.
Ese paired with Ethel to render 'Miracle' by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. The judges commended their performance noting that although the pair had voices as different as night and day, they succeeded in blending their voices and achieving balance. Ruth and Monica brought the house down performing 'Yori Yori' by Brackett. The judges thought they were lacking in their singing and team work, even though they scored an A on performance.
The second segment opened with Yvonne's performance of 'Kuchi Kuchi' by Jodie. The judges praised her for pushing herself beyond status quo, but noted that she could do better. Ese was next performing Waje's 'For a Minute'. The judges thought she sounded tired, but agreed that she did justice to the song. The Faculty disagreed with the judges and opined that what the judges interpreted as tiredness was merely the contestant interpreting the song.
The Ghanaian Ethel delivered an electric performance of Whiz Kid's 'Holla at your Boy'. The judges were impressed by the fact that Ethel gave the song her own interpretation, beautifully, rather than attempting to replicate whiz kid's character. Roy delighted the judges and audience as he performed D'Banj's 'Scape Goat'. The Faculty and judges noted that he had done something extra ordinary as it was no child's play singing a D'Banj song. Ruth performed Tiwa Savage's 'Kele Kele Love'. The judges noted that although her performance was excellent, her singing was shrill and loud as she very much misplaced the mood of the song and was too dramatic in her delivery.
Monica closed the night with her super performance Tu-Face's 'Only Me'. She had the crowd on their feet and the judges in awe at the way she had delivered a Tu Face song to perfection; Kwame even promised to ask Tu-Face's management to allow Monica remix the song!
At the end of the show, the judges grudgingly yielded the authority to place them on probation to viewers. So now the competition is stiff as their survival depends on your votes. To save any of them, text their unique number - Ese(4), Ethel(5), Monica(10), Roy(13), Ruth(14) and Yvonne(16) from an MTN line, if in Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone, but text to 1739 if in Ghana.

Academy Day 46: You decide the winner!!!
Wednesday, 07 December 2011 13:33
The end is in sight! The RAV 4 and cash and recording contract are within grasp!! You decide who win now!!! With three more weeks to the end of season 4, Ese(4), Ethel(5), Princess(xx), Rachael(xx), Roy(13), and Yvonne(16) are fighting their way to remain in the competition.
In today’s class, Uncle Ben took them through the songs they will all be performing this weekend. Ethel was first to sing, then Princess as each of them took turns to rehearse their songs and finally together they rehearsing group song ‘Olori Oko’ by Infinity. Though not so smooth yet, they are all working hard to give nothing but the best this weekend, even as Uncle Ben in his usual funny but strict manner encouraged them to put their very best and not perform below standard when they get on stage.

Later in the day, they all made their way into town to solicit for votes. Ruth and Monica came along with them even as they stopped by Beat FM. The presenters lightly scolded but still encouraged them and applauded Monica and Ruth for a good performance. From there, they took off to NYSC Orientation Camp, Lagos where all the Corps Members in camp were eagerly waiting for their arrival. Getting on stage, the contestants sang individually to the listening pleasure of everyone, but Roy got everyone on their feet in excitement as he performed the ‘NYSC Anthem’. Youths obey the clarion call....
The contestants’ on probation’s clarion call for your votes is high. To vote for your favourite, text his/her unique number to 306 from an MTN line if in Liberia, Nigeria, or Sierra Leone. But peeps in Ghana can text to 1739.
Project Fame... whatta feeling!
